FOREST CLUMPS ~ KOPI LUWAK
So... exactly how is the coffee made ?

A coffee from the poop? Really? What kind of luxury is that?!?
For most the people, the idea of drinking something what was excreted by some animal seems to be not only crazy, but also disgusting. Well, I believe that sometimes you need to give a shot to the weirdest things, just to change your mindset a bit.
Kopi Luwak is known as the world’s most expensive coffee. It’s produced from the coffee beans, which have been digested by an Indonesian animal called a palm civet cat.
Although Coffee beans contain caffeine, this does not stop the cats from eating them. During the digestion process the coffee cherries and the pulp are removed, whereas the coffee beans are not digested.
Whilst passing through the Civet Cat a fermentation happens and that is responsible for the special flavor of this coffee.
But why is it so expensive? Well, the reason of the extreme price is the production method. The coffee beans are free range and the civet cats 'Work' on a large coffee plantation. So finding civet poop is not very easy. You need to spend a lot of time in the forest to find it and collect a decent amount. Therefore the wage cost is high.
Once collected the coffee beans are washed, dried, and roasted.
This coffee can be brewed like any other type of coffee. Because of its unique flavor it is recommended to drink it without a sugar, milk or any additional ingredient. Alternatively, using Baileys Irish Liqueur (or similar) instead of milk makes an deliciously creamy and extravagant cop of coffee.
Its a rare and expensive coffee which is a luxury around the world. The price for one cup can be £18 or above. The price of Kopi Luwak Ground coffee can be as high as £700 per kilo. We source ours from Indonesia and is classed as Grade 1.
